Crowded Isolation

Crowded Isolation

“One of Canada’s finest songwriters” – Bob Mackowycz

David Bray’s unique artistic vision has established him as one of Canadian music’s leading songwriters. His compelling lyrical flare combined with an ear for musical hooks has been hailed by critics and industry veterans alike. Bray is a poet and storyteller as much as he is a writer of songs….all without compromising on his superb brand of R&B which is the bedrock of his latest collection. This new release celebrates a decade of work resulting in a trilogy of albums (of which this is the second). Bray’s last album, Night Rains aired on over 200 stations around the world. This collection focuses on a soul-searching examination of what Bray calls “Crowded Isolation” and the challenges of urban life. A

long for the ride is an impressive assortment of musical friends, including Motown legend Bob Babbitt, Garth Hudson of the Band, Colin Linden, Jeff Healey, Daniel Lanois, Richard Bell, Gary Craig, and more. Bray wrote, produced and performed the album helped out by some outstanding vocalists, most notably his long time musical partner Lorraine Reid, one of Canada’s most soulful new vocalists.

Crowded Isolation is a collection of poetic stories, conversations, and observations from Bray set in a busy, harsh and often unforgiving urban environment. Experimenting with duality in perspective, Bray positions each song from either the viewpoint of a city dweller battling the angst of city living, or that of a passerby peering into the lives of those around him. While the stories may, at times, seem bleak, Bray’s unfailing romanticism infuses the collection with a sense of hope and possibility.

While Crowded Isolation sounds contemporary and fresh on first listen, it also echoes the sounds of original Motown, R&B and Soul.

Crowded Isolation is available around the world week of February 5, 2018.
